Fun until someone gets hurt: Kids turn sparklers into big ball of fire

Three concerned STOMPers witnessed youths playing dangerously with sparklers yesterday (Sep 23), during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

They worry for the safety of the youths, and also wonder if their acts can be considered as a form of vandalism.

STOMPer Marcus took a video of one boy playing with sparklers. He was first seen holding the lighted sparkler before leaving it on the ground as it spits balls of fire in various directions.

The STOMPer said: "Would this be called vandalism? They should not have done this as it could have caused injury to passers-by.

"And if the explosion goes out of hand, they might also even be injured."

Two other STOMPers also witnessed kids playing with sparklers in separate incidents, and took photos of their acts.

One of the STOMPers, Louis, saw students playing with fire at Block 114 Serangoon North Avenue 1.
