DBS Bank announced on Sunday (Nov 16) it will provide a S$3.5 million sponsorship for the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games as well as its dragon boat and sailing races.
The Games will be hosted in Singapore next year and the competition will start in June.
Dragon boat races for the upcoming SEA Games will feature 12-crew categories, and for the first time, six-crew men and women categories.
Reigning Asian Games champions Indonesia will be one of the teams expected to compete.
Meanwhile, the DBS Marina Regatta will also be held in conjunction with the Games. The Regatta's Open and Women's races will be held on May 30 and 31, while the mixed races will be held on the same weekend as the SEA Games' dragon boat races in early June.
To promote local sporting talent, the annual National Inter-Schools' Dragon Boat Championship, which is open to all secondary schools and junior colleges, will also be held at the Marina Bay in conjunction with DBS Marina Regatta for the first time.
