Man burned trying to save pets from fire

A man is hospitalized for treatment of burns suffered while trying to save his dog and cat from a fire on Sunday morning.

The fire broke out just before 10 a.m. at the home in Siverston Road, Bainbridge Island (Washington state), fire officials said.

The man had earlier made it outside, but suffered minor burns when he tried to reenter the home to save his pets. 

He was taken to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton for treatment. His pets remain unaccounted for.

Firefighters are still looking into the cause of the fire, but believe it was accidental. The home was built in 1936.
