A woman on a 14th-floor ledge at a condominium along Thomson Road had to be rescued Thursday (Nov 6) afternoon.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 12:35pm. A woman in her 20s was sitting precariously on the ledge of the Cube 8 condominium along Thomson Road, when they arrived on the scene.
Channel NewsAsia understands that authorities had tried to convince the woman to move to safety. However, as the time passed, they decided to intervene.
Pictures sent in by an eyewitness, Mr Sylvester Lim, showed SCDF officers had unfurled a giant net, before moving in to grab hold of the young woman.
Mr Lim said that during the two hours he was there, he saw authorities try to talk to her before SCDF moved in at around 4.10pm to rescue her.
He had spotted the girl sitting on the ledge while he was driving on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), and had pulled over to take pictures. He said other onlookers told him the girl had been on the ledge for about three hours.
The woman has been arrested. Police said investigations are ongoing.
