OCBC’s annual mass cycling event is set to take place on Aug 29 and 30 next year under a new event organiser, Pich Event Management, the bank said in a press release on Tuesday (Oct 28).
Safety will be of “paramount concern” for everyone involved in the execution of the event, OCBC said, adding that the bank will work with the new organiser to put in place a range of new safety measures.
In this year’s edition of the race in March, an accident involving full-time National Serviceman Chia Wee Kiak, 24, left him with head injuries and in critical condition. He died from his injuries soon after.
The finishing line for next year’s race will be in the National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub, OCBC said.
