Newcastle agree £12million fee for Montpellier's Remy Cabella
The Magpies have been tracking 24-year-old Remy Cabella for some time and had an approach turned down last month.
But an improved offer appears to have got the job done with the club now having permission to speak to the Frenchman.
Cabella has forged an impressive reputation in Ligue 1 making over 100 appearances for Montpellier netting 28 goals.
Wenger wants midfield anchorman Khedira or Bender
Gunners boss Wenger is targeting a midfield anchorman next after completing the £33m signing of Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal have made enquiries about Sami Khedira who has got one year left on his contract at Real Madrid but would still cost in excess of £20m and command at least £120,000-a-week.
The German media believe 27-year-old Khedira – who has been an Arsenal target in the past two transfer windows – may be ready to leave Madrid this summer and Wenger is definitely interested.
But Arsenal are also in for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender who could be available for around £15m and he is also a long-term target and may be more realistic after the club's big spending spree on Sanchez and Debuchy.

| Javier Manquillo |
Gunners are keen on the 20-year-old Spaniard, and will look to sign him on a season-long loan deal - with the option of a permanent transfer.
Manquillo played a part in Atleti's La Liga win last season, but despite being highly-rated in Spain - he's a Spanish under-20 international - he's behind Juanfran in the pecking order at the Vicente Calderon.
Angel di Maria won't join Red Devils, wants Champions League football
Real Madrid are ready to sell Angel Di Maria for £40million - but he will snub Manchester United.
Argentina World Cup winger Di Maria has hit a contract stalemate at European champions Real, and are now ready to cash in rather than meet his demands - although coach Carlo Ancelotti will try to persuade them not to sell.
Sami Khedira demands £150k-a-week to quit Real Madrid, Chelsea plans to hijack Arsenal move
Chelsea are ready to hijack Arsene Wenger’s attempt to land Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira for Arsenal.
Khedira is demanding a pay packet of £150,000-a-week, which would make him the highest paid player at the Emirates.
And the Blues' manager Jose Mourinho is ready to step in and add him to a midfield that now includes new signing Cesc Fabregas.
Khedira has a year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and has rejected a new one. Real, who are interested in Chelsea midfielder Ramires, want to sell to avoid losing the 27-year-old on a free next year.
Chelsea target Paul Pogba pictured outside Harrods
Paul Pogba has fuelled talk of him joining Chelsea by posing with fans outside Harrods in Knightsbridge.
The French midfielder, who left Manchester United in 2012, has been linked with a big-money move to Stamford Bridge this summer as Jose Mourinho looks for another midfielder after Frank Lampard's departure.
Current club Juventus are willing to sell to raise money for other targets but want close to £60million for Pogba.
And the 21-year-old has increased speculation over his future after he was spotted in west London on Thursday.
Last month, he raised a few eyebrows by signing himself for Chelsea - on his personal Football Manager game.
Pogba was enjoying the famously addictive management game during the World Cup and now Blues fans will hope his plans become reality.
