Liverpool closer to Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi deals
Liverpool are lining up several deals in anticipation of Luis Suarez’s imminent move to Barcelona.

The clubs have still to agree a fee for Suarez, although it is expected to be around £70m.

The Anfield giants are closing in on Benfica’s Lazar Markovic and Belgium World Cup striker Divock Origi.

They have been in talks with Benfica over Markovic and are set to agree a fee in the region of £25million for the Serbian winger.

Talks with Markovic have been positive and the Reds hope to finalise his transfer this week, while they are also due to discuss personal terms with Origi.

Liverpool have proposed a £9.8m deal with his club Lille and are prepared to loan the teenager back to the French side next season.

Liverpool eye Seattle Sounders' DeAndre Yedlin after he shines for USA at the World Cup
Major League Soccer chiefs are struggling to keep hold of DeAndre Yedlin – reckoned to have been the lowest-paid player at the World Cup.

The lightning-quick Seattle Sounders full-back excelled as Jurgen Klinsmann’s team reached the last 16 – but earns just £60,000 a year.

Yedlin, 20, was so low profile that when Clint Dempsey arrived as the club’s new marquee signing, the newcomer took over his No.2 squad number.

Now, Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool are one of several European clubs trying to prise Yedlin away.

Dejan Lovren admits his head is already at Anfield
Liverpool target Dejan Lovren has blasted Southampton for trying to price him out of a dream move to Anfield.

Furious Lovren claims Saints have gone back on an agreement to sell him for £20million by rejecting two bids from the Reds.

The Croatia international, who has threatened to go on strike to force through the transfer, rapped: “Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven’t informed me. Not even about the subsequent Liverpool bids.

“That wasn’t right. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realised I’ve got no business staying at Southampton.

“Liverpool sent a £20m offer and Southampton paid nine million for me, so they would’ve earned twice the amount... Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool.”

Liverpool's Martin Skrtel a transfer target for Galatasaray
Martin Skrtel is being lured to Turkey by a staggering offer from Galatasaray, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People..

The Liverpool star, who has two years left on his Anfield contract, has been told his salary will be a minimum £100,000 a week.

The 29-year-old is not unhappy on Merseyside but he will be reminded that several big-name stars such as Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder have already moved out to Istanbul.

If he goes, the Slovakian centre-half will be joined in the Reds' departure lounge by Iago Aspas, who is set to join Sevilla for around half the £7.2million he cost just a year ago.

Southampton plot transfer of Pablo Armero as Luke Shaw's left-back replacement
Dutch legend Ronald Koeman has a £70m transfer war-chest after the Saints' summer sales of Shaw to Manchester United and Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Liverpool.

Koeman plans a £5million bid for Napoli and Colombia World Cup star Pablo Armero to replace Luke Shaw at Southampton.

Armero spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, but played only five Premier League games.

He scored Colombia's first goal of Brazil 2014 against Greece - giving the world a first look at a full-team celebration dance that would go viral - and started all five of their matches at the finals.

Tottenham eye transfer of Yacine Brahimi after Algeria World Cup heroics
Tottenham are keeping tabs on Algeria midfielder Yacine Brahimi following his impressive World Cup.

Everton and Roma have also been alerted about the 24-year-old who currently plays for French club Rennes. But‎ Brahimi has indicated he could be ready to quit Rennes to further his career.

The White Hart Lane club already have one of his Algerian World Cup compatriots in their squad in 19-year-old midfielder Nabil Bentaleb.

Brahimi primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can switch to either wing if required.

His versatility was recognised in Brazil this summer, where he scored once and got an assist to help his country into the tournament's knockout stages for the first time in their history.

Manchester City have agreed a £6million ‎deal for Malaga keeper Willy Caballero.

Argentinian Caballero is due to fly to Europe for talks with the champions, who are set to pay up to £10million - based on appearances and success.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini - who previously worked with the 32-year-old at Malaga - has beaten off competition ‎from Monaco and Barcelona to sign a back-up for Joe Hart.

Arsenal and Manchester United battle over Spain keeper Victor Valdes
Manchester United and Arsenal are locked in a battle to sign legendary Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

The Old Trafford giants' new manager Louis van Gaal and Arsene Wenger, his counterpart at the Gunners, are both after the former Spanish international, who is now a free agent.

Valdes is available after his move to Monaco – and a £25million a year tax-free contract – fell apart when he failed a medical.

The 32-year-old damaged cruciate ligaments last season.

Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha a transfer target for Newcastle
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is eyeing a move for Wilfried Zaha – after Manchester United agreed to sell the winger for £7million, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

New Old Trafford chief Louis van Gaal has decided to offload the England star, who fancies a switch to the north-east.

Zaha has had a disastrous time at United after arriving from Crystal Palace for £15m last summer.

Pardew now needs to persuade Toon owner Mike Ashley, who is insisting on the final say on all transfers, to come up with the cash.

Newcastle missed the chance to sign Zaha for £100,000 three years ago.
