The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested two men and seized 1.8kg of heroin with an estimated street value of more than S$194,000 — a quantity that can sustain about 883 abusers for a week, the bureau said yesterday.

The CNB said its officers observed two male suspects, a drug distributor and one of his clients, meeting at a coffee shop in Sin Ming on Thursday morning.

They left the coffee shop shortly afterwards and returned to their respective housing block units in the area.

The suspected drug distributor, a 42-year-old male Singaporean, was arrested by CNB officers as he was leaving his unit at about 10.35am.

Around 1.79kg of heroin and various drug paraphernalia were seized from that unit.

Another team of CNB officers raided a separate unit in the same housing block, where about 64g of heroin was seized. The suspected client, a 50-year-old male Singaporean, was also arrested.

Both suspects are under investigation for drug trafficking, said the CNB. If convicted, they could face the death penalty.
