DBS and POSB customers reported that the bank’s automated teller machines (ATMs) were down in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Harbourfront, Redhill and Tampines for about five hours yesterday.

Responding to TODAY’s queries, a bank spokesperson confirmed that “a small number” — the bank did not say how many — of its 1,110 ATMs islandwide, as well as selected online banking services, were intermittently affected by a “connectivity issue”.

The spokesperson said all services were fully restored at about 3pm.

The bank said no problems had been reported by its overseas customers. Investigations into the cause of the problem are under way, the spokesperson added.

In October last year, “system connectivity issues” also disrupted DBS and POSB banking services briefly. This happened about a week after its ATM services and those of other banks were disrupted following a fire at SingTel’s Bukit Panjang Exchange that affected telecommunications in parts of Singapore.
