Arsenal confirm Carlos Vela return
Arsenal WILL exercise their right to buy striker Carlos Vela back from Real Sociedad, according to the Spanish club.

The Mexico international was on the Gunners' books from 2005, when he signed from Guadalajara in his homeland at age 16, until he was sold to Sociedad two years ago.

In that time, he scored just three Premier League goals and made the same number of starts in the domestic top-flight - as well as 26 substitute appearances. He added eight goals in other competitions, again appearing more often as a sub than a starter.

A season-long loan at Sociedad for the following campaign brought a dozen goals and a permanent transfer which included an option for the Londoners to buy him back, reportedly for around £3.5million.

Damien Duff joins Manchester City's Australian outfit Melbourne City
Damien Duff has joined Manchester City's Australian outfit Melbourne City on a free transfer.

Duff, 35, was released by Fulham at the end of the season and has agreed a one-year deal worth just under £30,000-a-week with the ambitious A-League side.

The former Chelsea, Newcastle and Republic of Ireland winger will play alongside David Villa before the Spaniard begins his career with the Blues' US franchise, New York City FC, next year.

Everton plot Hakim Ziyech transfer
Everton are ready to take on Eredivisie giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven in the race for Hakim Ziyech, a youngster tipped to be the next great Dutch star.

The Toffees' boss Roberto Martinez revealed recently he had the 21-year-old Heerenveen midfielder watched several times in the closing weeks of the 2013-14 season.

And he is now ready to make a formal offer of around £2.5million to head off interest from Holland's two most powerful clubs.

Thomas Muller snubs Man U with new Bayern contract
Manchester United transfer target Thomas Muller has signed a new contract at Bayern Munich - one that will keep him at the club until 2019.

The German side also confirmed this morning that captain Philipp Lahm has also agreed to extend his stay until the summer of 2018.

Louis van Gaal, Manchester United's new manager, had been keen on signing Muller this summer for £25million after the midfielder told a German magazine earlier this month that he had reached a point in his career where he insisted to know whether he is a part of the club's starting XI.

But the Germany international has now put any doubts to bed by putting pen to paper on a new contract.
