Singapore is global capital for MICE events for 7th year

Singapore is still the place for businesses looking to host events and meetings, it would appear.

For the seventh year running, a global ranking by the Union of International Associations (UIA) has named Singapore the top city for events and meetings. The field had 1,465 cities.

The same ranking placed the Republic at the top among 174 countries for such MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions) events, making this its third consecutive pole position.

The UIA rankings released yesterday said that 994 of the meetings hosted in Singapore last year met UIA's stipulated qualifying criteria - 4.4 per cent higher than in 2012.

Second-ranked United States hosted 799 meetings, and South Korea was third with 635.
