Over the years, I have observed that there is a lack of graciousness in the behaviour of motorists, many of whom behave aggressively and arrogantly on the roads ("Warning: Dangerous drivers ahead"; last Wednesday).
I am constantly baffled by the decisions of some motorists who refuse to perform basic tasks such as signalling when changing lanes, turning on the hazard lights before stopping, and not hogging the extreme right lane on the expressways.
In turn, other motorists respond by tailgating, and a combination of all of these results in accidents, traffic jams and increased stress for all motorists on the road.
I urge the authorities to look into a public education campaign to remind motorists to behave graciously on the roads.
This would help to improve the behaviour and mindset of motorists and reduce acts of selfishness while driving.
Even small acts of gracious behaviour on the roads, if practised by all drivers, would help to reduce the number of accidents that occur every day because of reckless decisions and impatience.
