Chelsea are keeping tabs on Steaua Bucharest left-back Iasmin Latovlevici.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen that position and has also been chasing Atletico Madrid's left-back Filipe Luis.

But the west Londoners see 28-year-old Romania international Latovlevici as a strong alternative - especially as he only has one year left on his current contract.

Chelsea were impressed with Latovlevici when he played against them in the Champions League last year.

They want to sign a left-back as a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, who is expected to leave the club this summer as a free agent, having played right-back Cesar Azpilicueta there for much of last season.

Mourinho has also been strongly linked with Southampton and England's teenage left-back Luke Shaw, who grew up as a Chelsea fan.
