Local telco Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has become the first here to offer mobile broadband speeds of up to 300Mbps – double the speeds of current 4G services.

However at launch, the coverage area was restricted to the Singapore Expo.

By the end of this year, the telco said that more than half of the island will be covered, including the Central Business District, Changi Airport and major shopping malls.

Nationwide coverage will be completed by end next year.

The other two telcos StarHub and M1 said that their networks will be upgraded to 300Mbps later this year.
