The National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have scaled up in rank in a list of Asia's top 10 universities compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
NUS has topped the rankings for the first time, inching up from second place last year; NTU has climbed to seventh from 10th last year.
The field comprised 300 universities in Asia, which were each assessed on eight indicators.
The Singapore Management University (SMU) was not ranked as QS considers it to be a "single-faculty university".
NUS was ranked first in the employer reputation indicator and second for academic reputation. QS rated it among Asia's top three universities across all disciplines measured - it was Asia's best in social sciences & management, second-best in arts & the humanities, engineering & technology and in the life sciences & medicine, and was ranked third for natural sciences, up a notch from last year.
