Two of Singapore's oldest universities yesterday announced new initiatives and changes to their educational framework.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) announced, among other initiatives, a grade-free first semester for freshmen, and compulsory industry attachments for computing and engineering students.
Meanwhile, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) announced the establishment of a centre to lead research into learning practices specific to the tertiary education sector in Singapore.
Beginning with the cohort matriculating in August, NUS' grade-free system will be introduced for undergraduates who are on the modular system, benefiting around 6,000 students in Arts & Social Sciences, Business, Computing, Design and Environment, Engineering, Music, Nursing, and Science.
