Defense chiefs to meet in Singapore

The defense ministers of Japan, the United States and South Korea are likely to huddle on the sidelines of the Asia Security Summit in Singapore from May 30 to June 1, sources said Sunday.

Tokyo has proposed to Washington and Seoul that three-way defense ministerial talks be held on North Korean nuclear and missile programs, the sources said.

At the meeting, the three countries are expected to reaffirm their cooperation in dealing with the issues of Pyongyang’s nuclear development and missile tests, they said.
