The 2014 edition of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Women's Premier League finally got underway on Saturday.

While the number of teams remained at nine, there were some changes as new faces came in. Out went last season's champions Middle Rangers FC along with Young Women, Jolilads Arsenal FC and Nanyang Polytechnic. In their places were Eunos Crescent FC, F-17 FC, National University of Singapore (NUS) and H2O/ITE Women's Dream Team.

It was Eunos Crescent who wasted no time in making a statement, hammering fellow debutants NUS 3-0 at Bukit Gombak Stadium. Nurul Khairiah broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, before Siti Nurhidayah added a second on 57 minutes and Nur Syafiqah sealed victory on 88 minutes to send them top of the table.

Elsewhere, Petra Football Club were the only other side to notch victory, with Tressa Jane Fernandez's late goal in the 86th minute handing them a slim 1-0 win over Winchester Isla FC at the same venue two hours earlier.

The other two games ended in 0-0 stalemates, with Police Sports Association Womens FC unable to get the better of debutants F-17 FC at Jurong West Stadium and Dream holding Arion Football Academy at ITE College Central.
