Two Sundays and a public holiday have passed since the Little India riot on Dec 8.

For the South Asian foreign workers here, having a day off usually means hanging out at Little India with friends and relatives.

But the authorities have banned alcohol and increased police patrols there recently.

So, some foreign workers have found new places to congregate.

At Mandai Estate, right outside a foreign worker dormitory, we saw around 200 foreign workers mulling around. There, four people laid down tarpaulin mats and chairs, inviting other foreign workers over for a haircut costing $5 per head.

These "weekend barbers" have regular jobs themselves, but use their days off to earn extra cash.

At Mandai Road, we saw a foreign worker pick durians from the forested area behind Mandai Road, placing them into a white bag. He carried them to the side of the road and placed them neatly on the kerb. Then, he squatted and waited for his customers to come.

He has been selling the durians here every Sunday, on his day off. Oh, and $25 buys you five durians.

At Kaki Bukit Road 5, we saw around 10 foreign workers set up a makeshift volleyball pitch by tying a net from a lamp post to a lorry.
