The usual peace and quiet at St George's Lane in Boon Keng was disrupted on Thursday evening, when things came crashing down unexpectedly from a seventh-floor HDB flat.

Items including a microwave, a glass tank and even air-conditioner compressors were flung down.

Royce Choo, one of the residents in the area, said: "I heard some shouting, that he was shouting at a man who was cleaning a vehicle. He said 'hey do a good job'. Then after that, I heard some things drop down.

"It was clothing, then down came a dust pan, broom. He was all by himself - shouting to the people downstairs, and just flinging whatever he can get his hands on, just flinging them down... I think the worse was a glass tank. It was a mess below... I haven't seen him before."

Madam Ong Ah Yan, a next-door neighbour, said: "They haven't moved in for very long. Just about 10 days ago but my other neighbour has said since they moved in, there were some run-ins with them... For no particular reason he would scold them. Maybe he was feeling unhappy."

Police said they received a call for assistance at around 8.40pm. No injuries were reported. A man has been arrested in relation to the case. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
