SBS extends train, bus service on New Year’s Eve

SBS will be extending the operating hours of its bus and train services on New Year’s Eve, next Tuesday.

SBS also announced route diversions for services affected by road closures for the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown and Countdown at Boon Lay events on Dec 31-Jan 1.

NEL

• The last trains on the North-East lines towards HarbourFront MRT station will depart Punggol MRT station at 1.45am, Serangoon MRT station at 1.56am, Dhoby Ghaut MRT station at 2.08am and Outram Park Station at 2.14am.

• The last trains on the North-East lines towards Punggol MRT stations will depart HarbourFront MRT station at 2.16am, Outram Park MRT station at 2.19am, Dhoby Ghaut MRT station at 2.25am and Serangoon MRT station at 2.37am.

Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North-East Line.

• The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart the Town Centre Station at 2.52am, while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 2.55am.

DTL

• The last trains on the Downtown lines towards Bugis MRT stations will depart Chinatown MRT station at 2.13am, Bayfront MRT station at 2.18am and Promenade MRT station at 2.20am.

• The last trains on the Downtown lines towards Chinatown MRT stations will depart Bugis MRT station at 2.14am, Promenade MRT station at 2.16am, Bayfront MRT station at 2.18am.

BUS SERVICES

To complement the extension of the train operating hours, the last bus timings of 29 selected bus services — 51A, 60A, 63M, 97, 133, 181, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359, 400 and 410W — will also be extended at their respective bus interchanges.

In addition, the six Nite Owl services will be extended to operate until 4am instead of 2am.

There will also be a change in the operating hours of 11 services — 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 128, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513. They will not be operating during the regular evening peak hours given that offices on that day will be closed earlier. However, they will operate from 1.00pm to 2.00pm instead.

In addition, SBS said that on the eve of New Year, 19 bus services will be diverted due to road closures for the countdown events being held. As a result, they will have to skip several bus stops along their regular routes.

COUNTDOWN AT BOON LAY

From 6pm, next Tuesday to 1am next Wednesday, three bus services — 99, 240 and 246 — will skip eight bus stops along Boon Lay Drive, Boon Lay Place and Corporation Road due to road closure.

MARINA BAY SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN

Road closures will also affect 16 bus services — 10, 36, 56, 57, 70M, 97, 100, 111, 130, 131, 133, 162M, 195, 196, 502 and 518 — which will have to skip 12 bus stops. The affected bus stops are along Bayfront Avenue, Collyer Quay, Connaught Drive, Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Marina Boulevard, Raffles Avenue and Temasek Avenue, which will be closed in phases from 6pm next Tuesday to 1am next Wednesday.

At the same time, six Nite Owl services will also skip two bus stops along Raffles Avenue and commence service from the bus stop in front of St Andrew’s Cathedral (bus stop 04167) along North Bridge Road.
