Man gets 30 years for dragging police officer at traffic stop

Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Cody Dunfee pulled over Alan Hampton near I-435 and 152 Highway on July 8, 2012 after clocking him going 86 miles per hour in a 65mph zone.

Approaching Hampton’s car, Cpl. Dunfee felt something was up. Hampton had something in his waistband.

Dunfee pulled his gun and Hampton hit the gas. Dunfee acted without hesitation.

“Dove into the car right after him, I drew my service weapon as i did that and he took off speeding down the shoulder,” Cpl. Dunfee told Fox4KC. The trooper shot Hampton twice in the leg, forcing him to pull over.

Wednesday morning, Hampton was sentenced to 30 years : Six years for resisting arrest, 12 for possession and 12 for felon in possession of a firearm. The judge ordered them served consecutively.
