A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Operationally-Ready National Serviceman (ORNS), Corporal Heng Wei Sian died 10 days after suffering a stroke, the ministry of defence said in a statement issued on Friday night.

The 24-year-old Armament Specialist Technician was found lying motionless but conscious in a toilet in Kranji Camp III earlier this month on 10 December at around 9.20pm. He had just returned from a night-off during his in-camp training.

Four doctors from his unit attended to him at 9.35pm and the SAF ambulance evacuated Heng to Kranji Camp II Medical Centre at 9.59pm for further resuscitation.

Later, the SAF duty doctor and two NS doctors continued to attend to him in the ambulance en route to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

Upon arrival at the hospital at 1037pm, he was diagnosed as having a stroke. He underwent an emergency operation and was warded in the Intensive Care Unit. He died on Friday evening, 10 days after his stroke.
