The Legal Aid Bureau has provided free help, legal advice and assistance to over 300,000 underprivileged applicants in the last 55 years.

This would not have been possible without the Assigned Solicitor scheme, which was set up to encourage the Bar to play an active role in helping the underprivileged.

With an initial team of 15 staff in 1958, the Bureau has grown to more than 70 employees today, made up of customer service officers, legal support officers and administrative and finance staff.

With the continued strong support from its partners, the Bureau will continue to play a critical role in ensuring access to justice for those in the society who have limited financial means.
