Girl found murdered at home in Tampines, maid arrested

A 16-year-old girl was found dead in her home at Tampines Street 82 on Thursday afternoon.

It is understood there were two knife wounds on the front of her torso.

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to the case. She is believed to be the family’s maid, who has been working for the family for less than a year.

The girl’s home and those of her immediate neighbours were cordoned off and police were at the scene when TODAY arrived in the late afternoon.

Police said in a statement that they received a call at 12.57pm for assistance at 856B Tampines Street 82.

“Upon arrival, a 16-year-old was lying motionless in the said unit and was pronounced dead by paramedics,” said the police statement.

Police have classified the case as murder, and investigations are ongoing.
