LIONSXII hardly broke a sweat as they eased to a 2-1 win over Perak on Saturday to move four points clear at the top of the Malaysia Super League.

Three days after being crowned the first-ever AFF Player of the Year, Shahril Ishak sent the hosts on their way when he opened the scoring in the 9th minute, before wrapping up the victory two minutes before the hour mark with a close-range strike.

However, the LIONSXII were unable to keep a clean sheet as Perak grabbed a consolation in injury-time when Rafiuddin Roddin's right-wing freekick sailed over a sea of heads and went straight into the far corner.

Still, the result was enough for V. Sundramoorthy's charges to take full advantage of their game in hand and move four points clear of nearest challengers Selangor and Darul Takzim, and they certainly could not have asked for a better start.
