A total of 40 passengers had to get off the LRT trains they were on and walk along the emergency walkway to reach a station platform (Phoenix Station) this morning.

This happened when train service on the Bukit Panjang LRT system was disrupted for about an hour from about 11.20am.

SMRT's Vice-President of Corporate Marketing and Communications Ms Kalai Natarajan said preliminary inspection by the Engineering and Maintenance team showed that there was a power trip between Phoenix and Bukit Panjang stations.

SMRT added that it is investigating the cause of this power trip.

Free bus bridging services were activated at 11.45am to serve LRT passengers along the entire line.

SMRT said passengers who were not able to complete their journey due to the disruption can approach the Passenger Service Centre in any of SMRT's stations over the next 14 days for a refund.
