Live eel removed from man's behind

A 39-year-old man in Shunde, Guangdong province, China had reportedly visited a hospital to remove a live eel from his behind.

He had told medics that he was imitating a pornographic film when he inserted the eel into his anus, according to a report in The Sun newspaper.

Online reports said the eel was 20 inches long (51cm) and weighed more than half a kilogramme.

The eel, that was "simply trying to find its way out" according to a member of the medical team, died shortly after being removed from the man's body.

"It was still alive when we got it out but it died soon afterwards, which was probably a mercy.

"This was a particularly idiotic stunt and could have caused him a serious injury. Eels have small but very sharp teeth," said the medical team member.

Huffington Post reported that the eel was an Asian swamp eel that chewed through the man's colon, damaging his large intestine and then became stuck.

The Sun reported that the man may face animal cruelty charges.

Apparently, this act is not unusual. Eel porn is a fetish in Japan, among other animals such as worm, frogs, fish and octopus.
