Police are investigating a 21-year-old man for making a false police report, claiming that he had been robbed in the vicinity of Stirling Road.

On 10 Apr 2013 at about 1.00 am, the 21-year-old man reported to the Police that he had been robbed of $2,000/- at knife point by two unknown men who had fled towards the direction of Stirling Road.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Clementi Police Division conducted extensive enquiries and follow-up investigative probes at the crime scene.

However, through follow up investigations and subsequent interviews, it was established that the victim had made a false report on the alleged offence of Armed Robbery. He had actually made it up as he had gambled away the sum of $2,000/-.

Investigations against the subject are still on-going. Anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $,5000, or with both.
