You can look forward to four long weekends next year due to public holidays falling either on a Monday, Friday or Sunday.
  • Hari Raya Haji will fall on Sunday, 5 October, in 2014. As such the following Monday will be a public holiday.
  • The first day of the Lunar New Year next year falls on 31 January, a Friday.
  • Hari Raya Puasa, falls on Monday, 28 July, giving a three-day stretch for the festivities.
  • Together with Good Friday, the three public holidays will add an extra day off to the weekends.
MOM said Deepavali next year is slated to fall on 23 October, but is subject to change when the Indian Almanac is available.

Deepavali this year will now be on 2 November, instead of Sunday, 3 November. Since Deepavali no longer falls on a Sunday, 4 November will not be a public holiday.

The dates for the 11 gazetted public holidays can be viewed on MOM’s website.
