Drug offenders at higher risk of re-offending to undergo pre-release programme

Drug offenders at a higher risk of re-offending now go through a 10-month programme to prepare them for release and re-integration into society.

It is also hoped the programme will help lower the chances of them returning to prison.

Inmates go through a holistic programme at the Pre-Release Centre, located within the Changi Prison Complex.

Besides counselling, skills training and family connection sessions, inmates have more opportunities for interaction in a setting that is closer to what they would encounter when they are released.

Since April last year, more than 300 inmates have been placed at the Pre-Release Centre.
