Sunday's Great Eastern-YEO's S.League Results
Tampines Rovers 2-0 Harimau Muda
Balestier Khalsa 2-0 Warriors FC
Defending Great Eastern-YEO's S.League champions Tampines Rovers moved top of the table on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Harimau Muda.
Heading into the weekend's clash at the Clementi Stadium as the only side apart from previous leaders Albirex Niigata (S) with a 100% start to the 2013 season, the Stags knew a win would be enough to send them top given their superior goal difference.
And although Harimau Muda more than matched them throughout the first half, the visitors' resistance finally broke in the 55th minute as Tampines took the lead; 42-year-old striker Aleksandar Duric heading home a lovely cross from Shaiful Esah.
11 minutes from time, the three points were secured when a clearance from goalkeeper Sasa Dreven was flicked on by Duric into the path of Shahdan Sulaiman, who made no mistake and finished past a hapless Ilham Amirullah.
In Sunday's other game, Balestier Khalsa moved up to fourth with a dominant 2-0 win over Warriors FC.
Ruhaizad Ismail opened the scoring for the Tigers in the 7th minute with a clinical finish from close range, before turning provider by crossing for Park Kang-jin to double the hosts' advantage right on the stroke of halftime.
