Police arrest snatch theft suspect with help from public

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for snatch theft in the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road with the public's assistance.

At about 1pm on Saturday, the suspect, who was in a lift, snatched a woman's purse containing cash and valuables and fled.

The victim screamed for assistance, which alerted some of the members of public.

They assisted in chasing after the suspect and managed to detain him at the open car park in the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road.

Police said its officers responded swiftly and placed the suspect under arrest.

The suspect will be charged in court on Monday.
