Travelling overseas to enjoy your well-deserved vacation? Never let your guard down and let criminals enjoy themselves at your expense! Avoid being victims of crimes by adopting the prevention measures found in joint pamphlets by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Royal Malaysia Police (RMP).

A series of joint crime prevention pamphlets was officially launched at the AEON Bukit Indah Shopping Centre, Johor Bahru on 3 February 2013 (Sunday) by SPF Deputy Commissioner of Police - Raja Kumar and RMP Deputy Chief Police Officer of Johor - Datuk Ismail Bin Yatin. The launch further elaborated the close working relationship between the two police forces and its objectives are as follows:

a) To ride on the existing collaborations on law enforcement and move upstream to crime prevention as a crime fighting strategy;
b) To target and educate travellers crossing the land checkpoints on the common dangers that may confront travellers; and
c) To provide travellers, who may be disoriented in unfamiliar environment, with tips on crime prevention and handy information such as hotlines and informative websites.

Beyond crime prevention messages, the joint effort is reflective of a deeper message: Criminals who victimise travellers will face the strength of not one but two closely-knitted police forces, both of whom are bent on bringing them to justice. The joint effort is also symbolic of both forces’ intent to move upstream and protect its citizens through leveraging on international cooperation.
