Leafy vegetables will cost more in Singapore, as supply has been hit by floods in Malaysia.

Wholesalers said the supply of leafy vegetables from Johor Bahru has been cut by between 20 and 30 per cent.

That pushed up the wholesale price by about 20 per cent.

Wholesalers expect the shortage to last another week or two and hope that the weather improves so that the supply for the Lunar New Year will not be hit.

Singapore imports about 40 per cent of its vegetables, both leafy and non-leafy, from Malaysia.
