Car rally marks 20 years of ASEAN-India ties

Twenty-two teams are taking part in the ASEAN-India Car Rally which began two days ago to mark 20 years of relations between the 10-member bloc and New Delhi.

A total of 124 participants will be on the road for 22 days, covering more than 8,000km through nine countries - Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and India.

Thirty-one Mahindra XUV500 sports utility vehicles, manufactured by India, took off for the rally.

The rally is organised by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Indian High Commission in Singapore (IHC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
