The nightclub which had used the school crests and names of two secondary schools in Singapore in its event posters has officially apologised for what it did.

The apology from Filter Members Club was published in The Straits Times' classified ads yesterday – about nine months after the incident.

In January, Filter Members Club, which is located near Mohamed Sultan Road, had upset members of the schools’ alumni by using images of the school badges for its event.

It used large circular posters, each featuring the school’s crest at the centre, with slogans that read “In need of a one night stand: CHIJ girls please stand up!” or "In need of a sugar daddy: Where my AC boys at?". They were posters for the nightclub’s regular series of themed parties called “Vice Convent”.

In the notice published yesterday, Filter Members Club and Massive Collective said they “unreservedly and unconditionally apologize to the IJ board of management, the CHIJ Alumni Association, alumni members as well as the staff and students, present and past, of all the 11 CHIJ schools, as well as the Anglo-Chinese Schools for the insult and offence caused as a result of the improper words and the use of the CHIJ and ACS crests in the posters displayed” at the club’s premises.

"We acknowledge and accept that the meaning and the imputation of the words are completely baseless and untrue and may constitute defamation of law. We express regret and remorse for the improper words and the unauthorized use of the CHIJ and ACS crests," the notice stated.

It also stated that they will not “cause offence again” to the schools and will refrain from using the crests of the two schools “in any manner or form”.
