Man injured in Hougang coffeeshop attack after staring incident

A man in his early 20s was hurt in a dispute in Hougang Avenue 8 late on Friday night.

Police were alerted about the incident at about 11.30pm.

They said an eyewitness who was with the victim at a coffeeshop near Block 621 claimed that a group of people approached them and accused them of staring.

She said that one of them allegedly grabbed an ash tray, hit the victim on the head and then fled with the rest of the group.

The man suffered head injuries and was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
