The Bangladeshi man accused of killing an Indonesian maid and dumping her body in a Woodlands HDB rooftop watertank has been given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on charges of trespassing and possession of obscene films.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the prosecution withdrew its five remaining charges, pointing out that he had already received sufficient warning from three of these charges.

Mdm Ruliyawati, 30, was found in the rooftop watertank of Block 686B Woodlands Drive 73 on May 16 this year.

Her 29-year-old Bangladeshi boyfriend, Md Repon Mostafa, was arrested on the same day and later charged for murder.

He was given a discharge not amounting to an acquital on July 10 for the murder charge.
