On Jan 25 that year, taxi driver Ng Kheng Teck, 43, had asked the maid to enter one of the bedrooms of his Bishan flat and made her lie on the bed before undressing and fondling her.

She struggled and tried to push him off, but in vain.

At the time, she had been working for Ng's household for less than two months. She did not reveal the incident to anyone as she was afraid and wanted to continue working to support her family.

On Jan 31, she was in the kitchen when Ng hugged her from behind and slipped his hands under her T-shirt to grope her.

He told her he liked her, to which she said: "I do not want," and walked into the toilet to avoid him.

But when she came out and wanted to leave the kitchen, he again approached her and lifted up her T-shirt and bra.

He then lifted his shirt and hugged her.

She pushed him away, saying: "I do not want."

He exposed himself and asked her to perform a sex act . She again pleaded and struggled to free herself. Afterwards, he made her lie on the kitchen floor and molested her.

Her ordeal ended after a few moments. He then told her not to call the police and offered to give her some money.

She told him to leave her alone and he returned to his bedroom to sleep. She left the flat and approached a passer-by, who called the police.

"Given the strong public interest, sex offenders who abuse their position of authority to satisfy their sexual impulses will be dealt with severely," District Judge Siva Shanmugam said.

Ng has two sons aged 12 and 15.
