A 44-year-old female snatch thief, who allegedly stole jewellery amounting to $8,000, has been arrested by the police on Thursday.
The woman targeted elderly victims, aged between 77 and 90 years old, in the estate of Ang Mo Kio.

Between Oct 1-8, four elderly women were robbed of their gold necklaces as the thief yanked them of their necks.

The police believe that the suspect trailed her victims after their grocery shopping at the market, followed them to them homes and robbed them just as they were about to enter their units.

A special task force was formed to nab the culprit, said the police in a statement on Friday.

Following an extensive probe, the task force managed to establish the identity of the suspect and she was eventually apprehended in Geylang on Oct 11 at around 12.00pm.

The suspect will be charged in court on Oct 13. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to seven years.
