Six people inside the apartment told police they heard the rifle fire and the sound of breaking glass at around 12:30 a.m.

A witness told officers he saw two males running from the scene and get into car parked in the 2900 block of Southwest Cambridge Street. The car was driven away with its lights off, police said.

Officers recovered 18 spent shell casings from the street in front of the apartment and also recovered several spent bullets and fragments from inside the apartment.

No one in the apartment could tell officers why their home had been targeted.
