A 24-year-old domestic helper is under police investigation for reporting that she was injured during an attempted robbery in Jurong East Street 21.

Police received the report on the afternoon of 24 Sep, and followed up with investigations and interviews. They later found that she had made up the story so her employer would not find out she had met her male acquaintance.

Anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $,5000, or with both.

The police reminded members of the public on the dire consequences of giving false information to a public servant and wasting police resources in attending to such untrue incidents.
