Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has given the go-ahead for livestock to be exported to Singapore for the upcoming Korban.

Under a new export legislation in force in Australia, approval for export livestock can only be granted by the country's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

To approve an export application, the department requires a fully compliant Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) submission from the exporter.

It is meant to help ensure that Australian livestock exported overseas for slaughter will be treated according to animal welfare standards set by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
