Singapore weightlifter Helena Wong has been awarded an unused quota place to compete at the London Olympics this month.

She will contest the women's 53kg category.

Wong, 24, will be the first woman weightlifter to don national colours at the quadrennial event, and the first representative from her sport since Chua Koon Siong at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

The Loughborough alum qualified for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010, where she finished eighth on her international debut.
