A Singaporean family's car was hijacked by three suspects who are believed to be intoxicated by drugs during the act of crime.

They were caught in that state after a seven hour raid on Wednesday, reported The Straits Times.

Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff revealed suspicions at a press conference that these three could have been involved in 14 other cases including those of vehicle theft, robbery and drugs.

Ms Rita Zahara, whose family were victims of the carjacking, expressed gratitude to the Johor police and was surprised that the perpetrators were caught within three days.

The police also raided the suspects homes for evidence and have seized a pump gun with three bullets and two pistols, several credit cards, identification cards and driving licenses, and mobile phones.

Investigations are still on-going and Mr Moktar said that two more men could be involved in this.

The three suspects are aged between 30 and 47, and all five suspects are Malaysian citizens.
