S'porean arrested at Manila airport for drug possession

A Singaporean man was arrested at Manila airport on Friday night after authorities found more than 8 kg of the illegal drug methamphetamine hydrochloride in his possession.

Philippine airport authorities said the man reportedly arrived at Manila airport from Bangkok via a Thai Airways flight.

The Singaporean is now in the custody of Philippine aviation and customs authorities. Violation of the Philippines' anti-drug laws carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
