To encourage more companies to promote flexible work arrangements, the government will focus on fostering such workplace cultures in the next two years.

The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has conducted pilots in the areas of home-based work and setting up of smart work centres to take advantage of Singapore's next generation broadband network, which facilitates working from home, or from satellite offices.

Minister of State for Manpower, Tan Chuan-Jin said while the initiative is not targeted solely at professionals, managers and executives, this group will see more options opening up to them if the pilot is a success.

The government also has a range of initiatives, including funding assistance schemes such as Worklife Works and the Fun and Flexi Works Scheme.

Under these measures, employers receive government co-funding when they put in place flexible work arrangements.
