Two teenage girls have been arrested for pocketing more than $10,000 through an online scam selling Polaroid cameras.

The police received 20 reports of online cheating between June 20 and July 3 this year where victims purchased Polaroid cameras and film online but failed to receive the goods they paid for.

The suspects had published a page on Facebook titled 'Cheapest Lens Preorder', offering Polaroid cameras and film priced lower than the market rate.

The police identified the two suspects after thorough investigations and arrested the duo at Henderson Road and Woodlands Street 13.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had cheated at least 70 people of about $12,000 between May and June 2012.

Investigations against the duo are still on-going.

If found guilty of cheating, they face up to 10 years in jail and a fine.

Meanwhile, Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Keok Tong San has urged members of the public who may have fallen prey to similar ruses to lodge a police report.
