A 58-year-old businessman who punched a motorist in the stomach after a minor car accident has been sentenced to a month in prison for road rage.

Koh Tiong Hwee, out on $10,000 bail, is appealing against the sentence.

The incident had happened after the car Koh's Indonesian maid was driving bumped into Dave Harbert Tan's Honda Integra along Marymount Lane on June 22 last year.

Mr Tan scolded the maid, Ms Rasmiati, 31, for not giving way to him when he signalled his intention to change lanes.

Koh then got into an argument with the Honda driver and punched him in the stomach.

Mr Tan was treated at the hospital for tenderness of the abdomen, diarrhoea and pain in his left shoulder and neck.
